On Tuesday, Aug. 25, the Appomattox Town Council met to, among other things, hold a public hearing on the Town of Appomattox Comprehensive Plan. The plan successfully made it through the public hearing, is being reviewed by the planning commission and will likely be adopted by the town council on Sept. 14.
The purpose of the Comprehensive Plan shall be “guiding and accomplishing a coordinated, adjusted and harmonious development of the territory which will, in accordance with present and probable future needs and resources, best promote the health, safety, morals, order, convenience, prosperity and general welfare of the inhabitants” of the Town of Appomattox.

The plan consists of 49 pages divided into the following sections: Introduction, Goals and Objectives, Future Land Use Map, Transportation, Community Facilities and Resources, and Appendix.
