Victoria C. “Vicky” Phelps, 54, a lifelong Appomattox County resident, recently announced her candidacy for Appomattox County treasurer in the general election Nov. 5.

Phelps has worked in local government finance for more than 25 years and currently serves as the finance director in the county’s Administration Office. In the position, she works with County Administrator Susan M. Adams in preparing the county’s annual operating budget.

“I feel like that’s an asset because I have worked with the budget for the past 25 years. And Susan and I work really well together, and I feel like that it would just be an asset for both of us.”
