The Appomattox County Board of Supervisors elected a chair and vice-chair, set governing rules, laws and procedures and dates and time of meeting, and confirmed the clerk of the board at its meeting Jan. 3.
There was also a closed session before the end of the meeting.
County Administrator Susan Adams led the group in accepting the agenda as presented and asked for nominations for the 2023 chairman of the board of supervisors. Samuel E. Carter, Courthouse District, was the sole nomination. It was seconded, and a roll call vote unanimously elected him.
Carter abstained from voting, and Alfred L. Jones III, Piney Mountain District, was absent, so voting were William H. Hogan, Appomattox River District; Trevor L. Hipps, Wreck Island District; and John F. Hinkle, Falling River District.
