Raider boys basketball drops home game against Amherst

The Appomattox Raiders boys varsity basketball team lost a home game to the Amherst Lancers on Wednesday, Jan. 4, by a score of 50-32.

The Raiders’ 2022-23 regular season record stands at 1-7 as of press time. Amherst improved to 9-2.

Appomattox took an early 6-5 lead on three-point shots by Jonathan Pennix and Zach Busa, and later tied the score at 9-9 on another three-pointer by Riley Chandler.

On Tuesday, Appomattox had a road game against Altavista. Results will be posted in an upcoming edition of the Times Virginian.

Appomattox travels to Buckingham on Thursday and hosts Rustburg on Friday. Junior varsity plays at 5:30 p.m., followed by varsity.
