This afternoon in Appomattox County Circuit Court, 23-year-old Mik'Tavis Elonta Naeshu Green, of Prospect, pleaded guilty to second-degree murder and other charges in relation to the Oct. 20, 2020 homicide of Carlos Levell Rose, a 45-year-old Bedford County resident.
Rose's charred remains were found Oct. 21, 2020 in a burned 2002 GMC Yukon in the Buckingham-Appomattox State Forest in Appomattox County.
According to evidence summarized today in court, Green and a co-defendant, Keyanta Ke'Shaun Robinson, of Lynchburg, had abducted Rose by gunpoint in his own vehicle. Rose was killed by multiple gunshots while in the vehicle with the two suspects as one was driving. Green shot Rose with a .40-caliber firearm.
After the shooting, Green and Robinson pulled off the road and met up with several other suspects in a vehicle following behind them. The group of individuals conspired together to dispose of Rose and his vehicle in the manner in which they were found.
Green also pleaded guilty to two counts of abduction by force, two counts of arson of personal property, two counts of concealing a dead body, one count of destruction of property with intent to steal an amount greater than $1,000, and one count of use of a firearm in the commission of a felony.
Green's sentencing date is scheduled for May 25. On the second degree murder charge, he faces a maximum sentence of 40 years. On all charges combined, he faces a maximum of 98 years.
Four other defendants in the case are scheduled for trials at later dates. Enrico Andre Moss, of Madison Heights, has a jury trial date of Wednesday, Jan. 11 and 12 (if a second day is necessary) in Appomattox County Circuit Court. Moss is charged with first-degree murder and other felonies.
