Students at Appomattox County High School were give a close-up demonstration of the dangers of distracted driving Friday morning during a staged car crash scene, sponsored by the school’s FCCLA (Family Career and Community Leaders of America) group.

The scene displayed an automobile that had fictionally crashed into a tree near the school’s office entrance parking lot (there was no actual crash). The plot of the narrated story involved a high school girl who had left home and picked up two friends for school. On the way to school, they turned up the music and were singing and speeding.
