Vehicle fire in Chap

A vehicle burst into flames around 5 p.m. today at the intersection of Red House Road and Cub Creek Road in the Chap area of Appomattox County.

According to Appomattox Volunteer Fire Department Lt. Dylan Garrett, who was in charge at the scene, the vehicle was fully involved when Engine 1 and 3 responded to the scene, and they had the fire under control within five minutes.

The driver of the vehicle had safely exited it and was not injured.

Garrett said the source of the fire is undetermined and the cause of the fire is under investigation.

The majority of the damage appeared to be in the front of the vehicle where the engine is.

The Appomattox County Sheriff's Office also responded to the incident.
