According to the Bedford County Sheriff’s Office, they received a report on Oct. 21 of a missing person from the Boonsboro area of Bedford County.
Carlos Levell Rose, 45, was reported missing, and last known contact was Oct. 20.
The Bedford County Sheriff’s Office is working closely with the Appomattox County Sheriff’s Office and other surrounding jurisdictions to locate this person.
The identity of the human remains found in a burned vehicle at the Appomattox-Buckingham State Forest has not yet been determined.

Appomattox County Sheriff Donald Simpson affirmed that the case involving a vehicle destroyed by fire on Oct. 21 in the Appomattox-Buckingham State Forest is being investigated as a homicide.
Simpson said the human remains inside the 2002 GMC Yukon contained gunshot wounds.
The remains have not yet been positively identified and the results may take a few more days, according to Simpson. However, the vehicle was known to have been used by a missing person from Bedford County.

The Appomattox County Sheriff's Office is conducting an investigation into remains recovered from a vehicle destroyed by fire in the Appomattox-Buckingham State Forest. The remains were found Oct. 21 in the vehicle, which had been set fire and abandoned near the intersection of Forbes Road and State Park Road.
The remains were transported to the Office of the Medical Examiner in Roanoke for positive identification and determination of the cause of death.
The Sheriffs Office is working the investigation in conjunction with the Bedford County Sheriffs Office. The vehicle, a 2002 GMC Yukon, is registered to an individual who was reported missing by his family on Oct. 21. The family made the missing person report to the Bedford County Sheriffs Office.
The Virginia State Police, along with Amherst County Sheriffs Office, Campbell County Sheriffs Office, Lynchburg Police Department and the Bureau of Alcohol Tobacco and Firearms is assisting with the investigation.

Human remains were found today in an abandoned, burned-out vehicle located near the intersection of Forbes Road and State Park Road in the Appomattox-Buckingham State Forest in Appomattox County.
According to the Appomattox County Sheriff's Office, at approximately 11 a.m. today, the Appomattox County Sheriff's Office began an investigation into the abandoned vehicle, in which they found the human remains.
The remains will be sent to Roanoke for an autopsy.
