The Appomattox County Board of Supervisors held its annual organizational meeting Monday, Jan. 10, where they voted on its 2022 officers and briefly discussed a concern brought up by constituents of one of the members regarding another board member.

Samuel E. Carter was voted by a 4-1 roll call as the board’s chairman for 2022. William H. Hogan received one vote. Hogan, meanwhile, was voted unanimously as vice-chairman. Appomattox County Administrator Susan Adams was unanimously approved as clerk of the board. All officers held the same duties in 2021.

The Rev. Alfred L. Jones III was welcomed as the newest member of the board, representing the Piney Mountain District. Jones replaces the retired Watkins Abbitt Jr., who decided to not run for re-election.
