Six tables still not allowed: Iceland’s to reopen Friday

From left in this photo from April 2020, Paxton Stark and Gunnar Ayers deliberate over their choice of a frozen treat as Christina Warren prepares to order. Warren had said it wasn’t the boys’ first time at Iceland’s. They’ve found the food truck a welcome addition to the community of Appomattox County.

Iceland’s is scheduled to reopen Friday, and they won’t be allowed to have more than two picnic tables due to Town of Appomattox regulations, despite owning the property.

To the chagrin of the Briceland family (who runs the food truck), their pleas for permission to have more than two picnic tables were not met with the answer they wanted at the Appomattox Town Council meeting held Monday. It will be a few more weeks to a month for the town to do research and come to a decision on the matter.

Iceland’s opened in 2020 at the Wilbun’s parking lot, providing frozen treats to the citizens of Appomattox and visitors.

Now it’s 2021 and one will find that Iceland’s has recently purchased their own property to serve customers from — 2.27 acres located at 180 Old Courthouse Road.
