Robert Scott “Bo” Cothran

Robert Scott “Bo” Cothran, 56, of Susie Alice Drive, Spout Spring, died Saturday, May 1, 2021 at his residence surrounded by his wife and children.  He was the loving husband of Freda Bryant Cothran for 25 years.

Born in Lynchburg, January 3, 1965, he was a son of the late Anne Brumfield Reynolds and William Leslie Cothran, Sr.   He was a member of Glory Baptist Church and had been a Wrestling and Football Coach for Rustburg and Appomattox High Schools.

Bo graduated from Brookville High School in 1983 where he won two-time heavy weight state champion.  He was a four-year starter on Varsity playing offense and defense; he was a district lineman in football.  He went on to play offensive tackle at Virginia Tech and was a member of the 1986 Peach Bowl Championship.  Bo was also a member of the 1987 Ferrum Football team.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by six children, Kim Dolph and husband, Ryan of Appomattox, Charlie Moore, Jr., and wife Jane of Amherst, Candi Horsley and husband, Bert of Bozeman, MT, Brittany Busby and husband, Brian of Amherst, Jefferi Bryant and Cody of Lynchburg and Rebecca Cothran and Matt Campbell of Roanoke; one brother Bill Cothran, Jr., and wife Sharon of Forest; 10 grandchildren, Luke (Emily), Isaac, Roman, Bella, Sophia, Ethan, Emma, Eli, Easton and Kane; one great-granddaughter, Baylie; nephew Wes Cothran; mother-in-law, Kay Woody Totty and husband, Herbert, Gladstone.

He was preceded in death by his sister, Becky Cothran; nephew, Chris Cothran; and father-in-law, Carl Bryant.

A funeral service will be held 1 p.m., Tuesday, May 4, 2021 at Glory Baptist Church by Pastor W.L. Pillow and Pastor Chris Brooks.  Burial will follow in the Bryant Family Cemetery.

The family will only receive friends at Glory Baptist Church from 6 until 8:30pm, Monday, May 3, 2021.  Please no visits to the residence.
