On Tuesday, April 12, the library hosted their “Library For All” program. In honor of cherry blossom season a staff member presented an interactive craft to create a cherry lip-balm holder in reds and pinks. Bottles of water and prepackaged cookies were the perfect snack. This program is for patrons of all ages, and all skill levels that need an opportunity to expand upon their social engagement experiences. The next “Library For All” program will be on Tuesday, May 10, starting at 11 a.m.
For the Wednesday, April 20 Preschool Story & Craft Time the Library hosted an ACLA (Appomattox County Library Association) volunteer, Doris, as she read the book “The Monkey Goes Bananas” by C.P. Bloom. April 20 is Banana Day, and we celebrated all things yellow including making yellow daffodil flowers as a part of our craft projects. We would also like to thank ACLA for donating the punch and bananas. Next week’s Story & Craft Time will be on Wednesday, April 27 staring at 11 a.m. and noon.
In preparation for the 2022 Summer Reading Program and other outreach venues ACLA purchased the library a new blueberry colored tent! This tent will be used by the staff and volunteers to stay safe from the sun during outside events. We would like to acknowledge the hard work that ACLA has been doing in the past few weeks; they have made several purchases including over 20 children’s movies, a professional grade utility card, four five-foot portable tables, several book replacements, snacks for programming, summer reading donations and more. There are plans for more contributions toward the summer reading program, for prizes, raffles, and other outreach events. ACLA is a friend’s style group that supports the Library with volunteers, fundraising, donations and special purchases.
We won’t talk about Bruno for our upcoming Jamerson Movie featuring an extraordinary family living in a magical house. Showtimes are Thursday, April 21, starting at 6 p.m., and Thursday, April 28, starting at 3:30 p.m. Snacks will be provided.
During the first week of April the library introduced their next free raffle featuring TLC’s (The Library Cooperation’s) puppy mascot Scout, assorted candies, and peeps! Anyone can enter, it is one chance per person, per visit. We will announce the winner of the Spring Raffle on Friday, April 29.
With the warmer weather fast approaching we would like to remind patrons that the library is a public building and that you must be covered appropriately, including the wearing of shirts and shoes. This helps the library to keep patrons and staff safe and we appreciate everyone’s cooperation.
