If you were among the area residents that forgot about (or otherwise missed) the Christmas lighting on Sunday night, you should make a point of circling by Courtland Festival Park to enjoy the sight. Being present on Sunday night was extra special because of the chance meeting with so many friends while enjoying the music and festive atmosphere. Congratulations to Jake Dawson and his helpers and the involvement of the Appomattox Tourism Committee in another job well done.

The Appomattox Raiders Football team is once again champion of Region 2C. They will play on Saturday Dec. 4 at Mitchell Stadium in Bluefield, W.V. against the Graham G-Men in the state semifinal. The G-Men are the only known high school team that plays its home football games in another state. Of course, it is practically in Virginia as it sits just across the line.
