Gov. (Ralph) Northam has acted on all the bills passed by the General Assembly this year. The governor recommended changes to 36 bills that were sent to him for action, and he did not veto any bills. In all, the governor has signed nearly 520 measures approved by the legislature.
The General Assembly met Wednesday, April 7, at 12 p.m., for the annual reconvened session to consider those proposed amendments and vetoes. We can approve or reject amendments with simple majority votes; vetoes can only be overridden with a two-thirds vote by both bodies.
