The library is deeply saddened to share the passing of Mrs. Pamela Judy, the chairperson of the Appomattox Library Board of Trustees. Judy has served on the library board since 2015 and became the chairperson in July of 2016 a position she has held since. Many in the community will know Judy from her work in the Appomattox County Middle School and the Appomattox County High School, where she will be remembered as a well respected member of the staff.
Before becoming a member of the library board, Judy frequently visited the library with her children and grandchildren. Attending library events, and putting to good use the services the library has to offer. Education was very important to Judy. She was also a devoted member of St. Anne’s Episcopal Church with a strong sense of community outreach, volunteering for many great causes and mentoring many. She was a great seamstress and loved to crochet, passing on many of her talents to her children.
When she became a member of the library board, Judy used her position to support and promote the best interest of the library and the library staff. She was involved with library events and encouraged others to become involved through volunteer work and participation in the library’s many programs.
Because her current term with the library board was about to end, she was recently asked whether or not she was interested in stepping down from her position on the board, her response was a resounding, “absolutely not!” Judy fully intended to carry on serving as a member of the library board as long as she was able, which she certainly did.
Judy will be greatly missed by the library and by the Appomattox community she served.
