After a scoreless three innings of play against the Dan River Wildcats on Wednesday, April 13, the Appomattox Raiders baseball team found themselves down 1-0 before their bats came alive and they ultimately prevailed 6-1.
Starting sophomore pitcher Noah Abercrombie of the visiting Wildcats put the clamps down on the Raider offense early, retiring the first nine batters he faced and striking out the side in the bottom of the third inning.
Dan River took a 1-0 lead in the top of the fourth when a double to deep center field by Dylan Howerton drove in Abercrombie, who had reached third base on a fly ball triple to right field that fell just out of the reach of a diving Jake Maner.
