The Appomattox Raiders varsity girls basketball squad is young, very young— six freshman on its opening day roster — but one thing they’ve got, other than developing talent, is spunk. 

Those spunky Lady Raiders battled their way to a hard-earned 36-33 overtime win over the visiting Altavista Colonels on Wednesday, Jan. 13, to tip off a season that has been delayed by the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. 

One of those Raider freshman, Aubrey Fulcher, played a vital role down the stretch to secure the win for Appomattox.
