Two people reportedly suffered injuries as the result of a two-vehicle accident late Monday afternoon in Appomattox.

Shortly before 5 p.m., two vehicles collided on Oakville Road at the location of the Richmond Highway off-ramp.

According to a Virginia State Police trooper at the scene, Kimberly Riggleman of Lynchburg was driving a grey 2006 Saturn Ion south on Oakville Road (toward Confederate Boulevard) when the vehicle collided with a black 2013 Hyundai Sonata, driven by Katilya Jones of Dilwyn, that was coming onto Oakville Road from Richmond Highway. There was a juvenile passenger riding in the Saturn Ion.

The trooper reported that two people were transported to Lynchburg General Hospital with shoulder pain, and another suffered a possible seizure.

At the time of this report it was not known who was at fault in the accident, which is under investigation.

Both vehicles were heavily damaged on the front end and side fender area.

Also arriving at the scene were two ambulances of the Appomattox County Rescue Squad, and Appomattox Volunteer Fire Department Engines 1 and 3.
