National FFA Week was recently celebrated at Appomattox County High School. FFA chapters across the country use this week to teach others about the FFA, and the Appomattox Senior FFA Chapter was no exception.
Chapter officers conducted a daily agriculture trivia contest, and students submitted answers at lunch. All students who submitted the correct answer were entered into a daily drawing for a gift card.
At the start of National FFA week, three State FFA Officers met with FFA members in the agricultural shop as part of the Virginia FFA Goodwill Tour. They conducted a thought-provoking workshop on powerful questions. After their brief workshop, members socialized with the State FFA Officers while enjoying donuts.
Later that day, FFA members joined five other FFA chapters along with the entire State FFA Officer team for the Lynchburg Area FFA Skate Night held at Lynchburg’s Funquest Family Entertainment Center.
As a way to show their appreciation, members provided the ACHS faculty and staff with bottled hand sanitizer with the saying “We’re in good hands with you.” Members also wrote notes of appreciation for faculty and staff members.
To conclude the chapter’s National FFA week festivities, FFA members participated in the Adopt-A-Highway program and collected 12 bags of litter along Church Street in Appomattox. After collecting litter, members enjoyed a meal together. To stay up to date on ACHS FFA activities, check out their website www.facebook.com/appoffa or on Instagram by following AppomattoxFFA.
