Relay for Life fundraisers are making a comeback in Appomattox after the COVID-19 induced hiatus. Crystal Butler, co-chairman of the Appomattox Relay for Life chapter, said she’s excited about the live music fundraiser to be held at Bull Daddy’s Sports Bar & Grill on July 25. The event runs from 6 p.m. to 1:30 a.m.
“Spend your money on a great cause, hear some great music and get some great food,” said Butler, excited about the upcoming event.
The event is a fundraising effort organized by the local Relay for Life chapter and will feature an array of local talent from the Central Virginia area. The band lineup includes: Just Us (6 p.m. to 8 p.m.), Blackbyrd (8 p.m. to 9 p.m.), 80 Proof (9 p.m. to 10 p.m.), The Dead Frets (11 p.m. to 12 a.m.) and Mourn the Illusion (12 a.m. to 1:30 a.m.).
“This is gonna be the first fundraiser since trying to get things back to normal,” said Butler. “Hopefully everybody will come out and enjoy themselves and have a good time.”
Butler said the bands are dedicated to the cause, volunteering their time and resources to come out for the fundraiser. John Grissom will be volunteering his time to take care of sound for the live music event.
“Everyone’s been affected by cancer in some way — maybe they’ve lost a loved one or (they) themselves have had cancer,” said Butler. “It’s good to support a great cause and help find a cure.”
Admission is $10 at the door. All admission fees will go to Relay for Life. An ID must be present to purchase alcohol.
