Community invited to participate in 'Souper Bowl VII' canned food drive

APPOMATTOX, Va. -- Appomattox Senior FFA is hosting the 7th “Souper Bowl” canned food drive during the week of Aug. 26-30.

Families with students at Appomattox Elementary School (AES), Appomattox Middle School (AMS), and Appomattox County High School (ACHS) may bring donations to school. Students at AES are collecting food donations in homeroom classes. Students at AMS are collecting monetary donations and non-perishable food in homeroom classes. ACHS students should turn in donations during first block.

All community members and Raider fans are invited to drop off donated non-perishable goods at either the AMS or ACHS offices during the week of Aug. 26-30. FFA members will also collect donations at the entrance to Bragg Stadium through the first quarter of the football game on Friday, Aug. 30. Join the Raider Nation by cheering on our football team and also bringing donations to the game.

All food and proceeds donated to the Raider cause will help stock food banks in Appomattox County. According to the Blue Ridge Area Food Bank, one out of 12 children in the Appomattox area struggles with hunger. The goal of this drive is to help fight food insecurity in our community.

Please contact ACHS FFA Advisors Ed McCann or Cassie Long at 434-352-8396 for more information.
