A library card can be a passport to the world! You can travel through time, countries, mystical places, history and more! We are traveling across the pond to Taverham, UK, to become a “sister library.” Taverham is a village in Norfolk, England, approximately five miles north-west of Norwich and sits on the River Wensum. We are laying the groundwork to exchange displays, local information and history, books and small trinkets. Stay tuned for more information!
Spring is in full swing at the Jamerson Library, and the staff is working hard on lots of projects behind the scenes: preparing for the Summer Reading program, re-cataloging the DVD/Blu-ray collection, working on displays, creating new craft projects and more. We welcome the warmer weather and watching the world turn green, accented with blossoms and blooms.
When you walk into our foyer don’t forget to browse the items in our display case, by the 1865 Foundation, “So Many Stories to Tell,” featuring our local National Historical Park. Let a member know that you learned something new at your local library about our local park. The month of May will bring a gardening display to the front foyer’s case by the local Virginia Cooperative Extension Office and the Master Gardeners Club. We will be spotlighting other local organizations and businesses in our display case in the next coming months. If you are interested in showing off a hobby, educational venue or something fun just give us a call. We will be happy to work with you.
We would like to thank ACLA (Appomattox County Library Association) for purchasing the book “Outlander Knitting: The Official Book of 20 Knits Inspired by the Hit Series” to help us inspire our own patrons to pick up a new skill or improve upon one while they enjoy the Outlander books and DVDs. ACLA also purchased Mini Watercolor Paint Sets to be paired with watercolor paper as a part of an upcoming craft project-to-go.
This is the last two days to come into the library take a chance on the ACLA Spring Raffle to help fundraise for the library’s upcoming programs and events. Supporting them extends our ability to serve the community.
