ACHS girls win season’s first swim meet

The Appomattox High School Girls Swim Team won the first meet of the 2021-22 season last Friday, defeating Amherst and Prince Edward High schools. The Lady Raiders scored 110 points, to the Lancers’ 91 and the Eagles’ 71. The Raider boys fell to Amherst, but defeated Prince Edward.

The Lady Raiders started strong in the evening with the A-relay team winning the 200-meter Medley by eight seconds, and the B-relay placing fourth. The A-relay consisted of juniors Catherine Thomas and Berkley Jamerson, sophomore Morgan Flamm and freshman Mia Goodman. The B-relay of senior Mackenzie Fulcher, sophomore Larken Harris, freshmen Riley Fulcher and Abby Newcomb were less than one second out of third place.

Morgan Flamm dominated the next girls event, winning the 200-meter Freestyle, and later in the evening, Flamm placed third in the 100-meter Breaststroke. Berkley Jamerson later won the 50 -meter Freestyle and finished third in the 100-meter Freestyle.
