Raiders volleyball remains perfect down the stretch

The 2021 season is quickly winding down for the Appomattox Raiders varsity volleyball team. The Raiders are maintaining their perfect regular season record at 12-0 with only three more games left on the schedule.

On Tuesday night, the Raiders overcame tough competition from Nelson County in a 3-1 win (25-18, 25-18, 24-26, 25-19).

During the match, Haleigh Tweedy suffered a sprained ankle but Raiders head coach Mark Drinkard said that as of now she isn’t expected to miss any playing time.

Drinkard is pleased with the team’s performance in recent games and Tuesday night as well.

“We are playing well,” Drinkard said. “Tough match against Nelson. Haleigh Tweedy sprained her ankle but the bench responded and we fought hard.”
