At the intersection of US-60 West and VA-26 South in Gladstone, passersby will find a food and convenience store that’s cooking up a storm with some old-fashioned, home-style menu items. It’s called Gator’s Grill and Convenience.
To celebrate the new establishment, the Chamber of Commerce will hold a ribbon-cutting at 11 a.m. Friday while the establishment itself will celebrate with a grand opening from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday.
At the helm of this new operation is Larry White. His friends call him “Gator.”
The grand opening event will have live music provided by Hill City Cut-Ups, a bluegrass country band. 50/50 chances will be available, and proceeds will go to the Appomattox County Youth Football Program and SPCA. Visitors are invited to enter for a cash drawing of $200. The drawing will be held at 3:30 p.m., and participants must be present to win.
There also will be a hot dog special running throughout the day — $1 per hot dog.
Menu offerings include burgers, chuck wagon, fish sandwiches, corn dogs, fries, onion rings and more. Gator said he looks forward to adding pies to the menu. Breakfast also is part of the menu, including sausage, bacon, ham, eggs and more.
Gator’s Grill is located at 13020 Oakville Road in Gladstone. Hours are from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Saturday, and 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sundays.
