At Monday’s joint meeting between the Finance & Planning Committee and Physical Development Committee, Sen. Mark Peake interacted with town committee members.
Peake said he came to say hello and to hear what he could do to help the town of Appomattox.
Jonathan Garrett brought up the town council’s discussion (from a previous meeting) of possibly moving town elections from May to November in hopes of saving the town money. It would cut down costs that come with setting up the polls twice in a year. The change could save the town a couple thousand dollars.
There also was talk of staggered terms among the town council. As things are, the entire town council could be changed at once when town council seats are up for re-election.
