As the heatwave of last Friday neared its end, the iced tea and lemonade were cold on ice as private donors, who gave funds for additions to what was formerly known as Courtland Field, were celebrated.
The ceremony took place as soon as the clock struck six, under the pavilions at the newly renovated park, located at 217 Atwood Street in Appomattox. Attendees were greeted with a chalkboard sign which stated, “Dear Donors, thank you for your generosity and investing in our community! Your positive impact makes Appomattox a more beautiful place.”
Upon arrival, a plaque which stated the names of each private donor was covered by a sign that also showcased each name and organization that gave to the cause.
