The summer continues to sizzle, but the J. Robert Jamerson Memorial Library is the “cool” place to be. We have a building full of books, movies, magazines and more, including internet and Wi-Fi. You can beat the heat by learning a new craft or hobby, making some refreshing recipes, or spending the hottest part of the day at the library or other air conditioned place.
For the Wednesday, July 10 Story & Craft Time, the library welcomed guest reader Jeannette Brady from the Sylvan Learning Center of Lynchburg. She featured the book “Tap Tap, Boom Boom” by Elizabeth Bluemle and illustrated by G. Brian Karas. The book is about clouds that have gathered above the city to give way to the sounds of tap, tap, boom, boom! As the “thunderstorm” rains down, everyone scrambles for cover. With the almost nightly storms, this was the perfect book to present; we followed up by making boom sticks and a rainy day craft project. We held this event outside in the warm weather, under the pavilion in Abbitt Park.
