Forest woman sentenced for DWI; drug charges under review
Caleigh Nicole Gentry, 26, of Forest, pleaded guilty to two felony drug possession and one misdemeanor drug possession charges, plus one misdemeanor charge of DWI with drugs (second offense) in Appomattox County Circuit Court.
Circuit Court Judge Andy Nelson found sufficient evidence for guilt but placed the three drug charges under review until Dec. 5, 2024, at which time the charges could be dismissed under first-time offender status if Gentry complies with court orders.
Spout Spring woman sentenced for credit card theft and fraud
Laura Haywood Torrence, 39, of Spout Spring, received a six-year suspended sentence after pleading guilty to felony credit card theft and misdemeanor credit card fraud under $1,000 in Appomattox County Circuit Court.
According to evidence proffered in court, a deputy was dispatched to the Timberlake Auto Emporium in Lynchburg on March 6 regarding a credit card that was stolen at the business where Torrence and another individual were looking at vehicles.
Concord man to pay restitution for vehicle repair damage
In Appomattox County Circuit Court, Mark Ferguson, 51, of Concord, was ordered to pay $5,994.12 in damages on a felony conviction of destruction of property involving two automobiles that were brought to him for repair. Ferguson was found guilty in a trial by Judge Andy Nelson on Aug. 31.
An adult female contended that two pickup trucks, a 1987 Chevrolet and 2000 Chevrolet, were in worse shape when they were returned to her than when she first took them to Ferguson at his former auto body repair shop. Online court records show the offense date as Oct, 18, 2022.
