On the afternoon of Thursday, December 14 at approximately 3 p.m., a Concord Volunteer Fire Department truck overturned in a single vehicle incident near Smokey Hollow/Holiday Lane in Campbell County. A volunteer driver and three other volunteers were on the truck – none were injured.
The unit was responding to a fire call at the time of the accident. Other units were dispatched to cover the need.
The vehicle, which incurred significant damage, is being retrieved by a local towing company. There are no public hazmat issues stemming from this incident.
Campbell County Public Safety Director Tracy Fairchild conveyed: “The training, safety and wellbeing of volunteers and staff are always a priority. While rare, incidents of this nature do occur at times in the Emergency Response field. We are relieved and grateful that no one was injured in this incident. We will be in cooperation with the Concord Volunteer Fire Department as the unit is inspected and evaluated for service.”
