Gleaning for the World holds 2nd annual golf tourney

On a beautiful day to get out of the office and play a round of golf, Gleaning for the World held its Second Annual Golf Classic on Friday at Falling River Country Club in Appomattox.

The one-day tournament is a fundraiser for Gleaning for the World (GFTW), a non-profit missions organization in Concord that offers assistance with crises and natural disaster relief locally, nationally and worldwide.

Currently, GFTW is involved in causes such as helping Afghanistan refugees, victims of Hurricane Ida and the recent floods in Tennessee, earthquake victims in Haiti, and more.

With business and private donations tapering off somewhat during the COVID-19 pandemic, the Golf Classic provides a boost to GFTW through sponsorships, according to Warehouse Manager Mark O’Brien.
