Martin 14th in State Cross Country finals, named to All-State team

Appomattox County High School freshman Madison Martin, who in addition to already earning All-District and All-Region honors, earned All-State Honors in cross country over the weekend. Madison ran a personal best time of 21:20 over the 3.1-mile course at Green Hill Park in Salem. She placed 14th out of 97 runners.

On Saturday, Martin received an escort out of town and well-wishes from the community, as often happens when a Raiders sports team heads out for a championship event.

According to Raiders cross country coach Lisa Fort, Martin expressed her thanks and appreciation to the Appomattox County High School football team, cheerleaders and everyone else who gave her an “awesome” sendoff Saturday morning.
