Thanks to a 41-12 victory Friday night over Radford at Bragg Stadium, the Appomattox Raiders football team will be hosting the VHSL Region 2C Final next week.
Appomattox will play the winner of Saturday's matchup between Dan River and Glenvar.
The Raider defense was a force once again, swarming the Radford ball carriers, applying pass rush pressure, closing off the outside running lanes and returning two interceptions for touchdowns (Tre Lawing and Ervis Davin, both in the third quarter).
Lawing added two scores on offense (2-yard run and 11-yard run). Keyshawn Baker scored the Raiders' first points on their opening drive with a 40-yard burst through the middle of the Radford defense.
Adding to the Raiders' point total were Jonathan Pennix (4-yard run) and kicker Tye Robertson with 5 extra points.
Radford finally cracked open the Raider defense with two touchdown passes late in the third quarter, but the game was practically out of reach at 41-12.
Kickoff was delayed for one hour (8 p.m.) due to lightning in the area.
